What did you study in college, and how did your educational background shape your career in the sports business?

Advertising major and Sales minor with a concentration in sports, I definitely believe that being in creative outside the box thinking style classes helped me to develop a sense for how to be confident in this industry and to think critically and to find solutions to problems.

Can you share the key milestones in your career that led you to your current position in the sports industry?

  • My college internship as Head of Staff and Marketing for Alabama Hockey
  • My first job in the NHL with the foundation of the Boston Bruins
  • Holding the first ever Women In Sports Conference in 2023 and then again in 2024
  • Building a community based company that focuses on connecting with the people who love, play and work in sports.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a woman in the sports business, and how did you overcome them?

A big challenge has been being able to face the pressure of the old normals in sports and how women used to have a harder time pushing these barriers, it’s still something that is adjusting but the women and men who are in positions that have helped advance this have done an incredible job and are making amazing strides to help amplify the right voices and invest in the right women’s focused sports media, teams, leagues etc.

Balancing a career in the sports industry can be demanding. How do you manage work-life balance, and what strategies have worked well for you?

Personally, I currently don’t manage it well and that is just me being honest. The best thing I can suggest for anyone is to not look at me for work-life balance, I have created a company I care deeply about so I am fortunate to have that however its been a lot of hard work getting here and I currently am in a position where I give my all to this company daily. I will occasionally take time off as well but my best practices are sitting outside to work, getting a change of scenery, going for walks, drinking lots of water (and caffeine lol). Sadly I am not the role model for “work-life” balance but I believe in hustling hard for the things you are passionate about.

Have you had mentors or role models who played a significant role in your career? How important is mentorship for women in the sports business?

Yes, my mentors in sports are the women who have brought me into rooms and have used their platforms to help amplify voices of more women in sports. I look up to people like Kim Davis of the NHL as one of my biggest role models.

As for mentors/role models I have a great relationship with Dr. Patty Raube Keller of Boston College who has given me some of the best advice and is always a person I know I can go to.

In a male-dominated industry, do you feel women are given equal opportunities? What steps do you think can be taken to promote gender equality in the sports business?

It used to be different but I must give credit where credit is due; women are being given equal opportunities now. I do think there are still some major differences that still divide us like how Jessica Campbell being an NHL coach of a men’s team was a big debate but when a man coaches a PWHL team it’s not an issue. But this is just something we are continuing to work on and the more women who are showing up and making history, the more we no longer have to fight to be equals we can just be a part of it without that judgement on our gender.

What advice do you have for young women aspiring to build a successful career in the sports business?

Just because something is hard for you does not mean it should be hard for the next girl. Always be the one who invites others into the room. Collaborate over compete. It’s my go-to motto and the lifestyle I live by. We make change by being the person we wish we had to help us in this industry.

What aspects of your work in the sports industry do you find most fulfilling, and how do you hope to contribute to the industry’s growth and positive impact?

The most fulfilling will always be the community. The women in this industry are the bright light. I have met the most extraordinary women who just want to make changes and be there to help you. It’s amazing.

Any fun facts you’d like the world to learn about you? Favorite food, hobbies, how many kids, pet peeves, etc. The more the merrier!

I was in charge of the stanley cup for a full night once.
