Please describe your role & responsibilities at that position?
Oversee partnerships and brand awareness.
What did you study in college and how did your educational background shape your career in the sports industry?
My major was English but being a student athlete really prepared me for working in professional sports. It takes a lot of grit to get things done without a clear template.
Can you share the key milestones in your career that led you to your current position in the sports industry?
A lot of pivots with the pandemic and life events have brought me to where I am today. Things not working out as expected is a common theme in my journey.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a woman in the sports business, & how have you overcome them?
Overcoming geography can be a challenge at times. With so much going on in NYC and LA it can feel like a disadvantage to be a woman living in Indiana due to some shrinking rights. I work to overcome these challenges by continuing to use my voice and land on bigger stages.
Balancing a career is demanding. How do you manage a work-life balance? What strategies have worked well for you?
I believe in a work life blender and accept that I will be constantly interrupted on all fronts.
How important is mentorship for women in the sports industry? Have you had mentors or role models who played a significant role in your career and can give some details?
I’d say having advocates is more important that mentors because advocates actively work to say your name in rooms where you are not.
In a male-dominated industry, do you feel women are given equal opportunities? What steps do you think can be taken to promote gender equality in the sports industry?
Keep raising your voice in creative ways every single day, that’s how I believe things can change. Bit by bit.
What aspects of your work in the sports industry do you enjoy the most? What parts do you find the most challenging ?
When no one knows your name it’s hard to accomplish and connect with the things you want. I’d say learn to know folks before you need them by reaching out, scheduling calls, and yes networking.
What advice do you have for young women aspiring to build a successful career in the sports industry?
Don’t wait to be discovered.
What is your long-term personal goal that you still want to achieve both business wise and personal?
Produce a festival level short form documentary (in the works), host the ESPYs, and land on the Pat McAfee Show.
